Sculpture and Painting exhibition by eminent sculptor,Sri Shankar Ghosh, and painter Srimati Swagata Bose.
:LIVING BY ART, MY WAY....."An artist strives to create his signature style in his lifetime which is an extension of his personality and a language of expression he is comfortable expressing in .Whether it is a poetry,or a painting ,an artist who is in a search of his identity in a mass of millions of human beings on the planet, undeniably pursues his goal relentlessly, his individuality, his self in his work... and creates what comes from within his soul.I have been fortunate to discover myself,my medium and my individual style of painting as distinct from any other. My style is a combination of strokes and wash drips which are allowed to flow on the canvas freely, using acrylic as it gives me the advantage of both mediums, oil and water-color.I approach the canvas with a flat brush and my first strokes are to head for the mass on a wet surface. As I apply paint and sprinkle water and allow the drips to wander,I chisel away portions of paint not wanted in a correction method as I go on to apply more colors and built on the form and subject as I go on,keeping the strokes which I want to retain. The subject I choose is mostly figurative and representation of India, regions which I feel might become ex tint with technological intervention, like my "Talsari" series of fishermen with their nets which will very soon not be seen ,hence capturing them in this time frame becomes my intent. preserving and keeping historical evidence of what exists today in India.
